On Monday 6th March, Berwick Lodge will be hosting a Charity Fundraiser dinner and raffle. This is in solidarity with everyone affected by the disaster, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the earthquake appeal. The aim is to raise £7,500 to support those affected by the crisis. Local suppliers are supporting both the event and raffle, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their generosity.
It is such a desperate and appalling situation. More than 41,000 people are known to have died in Turkey and Syria since the earthquakes on February 6th. Continued reports express that the amount of need is overwhelming, with thousands of survivors left homeless and helpless.
This appeal sits very close to home for us, due to Fevzi’s family links to Turkey. Thankfully his family are not affected directly, but many friends and associates have been, and our hearts go out to absolutely everyone impacted by this awful tragedy.
Consequently, I and the Berwick family couldn’t bear to just sit by and carry on with everyday life. We have decided to close the hotel for the evening and put on this amazing event. It is so exciting, with ideas evolving every day. We are begging all of our contacts to support this cause and exploring every avenue possible to increase our fundraising efforts.
We have been truly humbled by the overwhelming amount of support we’ve received and everyone’s willingness to jump on board and do their bit. We always talk about the ‘Berwick Family’, but this feels like the Bristol family coming together – it makes me feel emotional how wonderful and resilient people can be when times get tough, and it just shows how intertwined we all are with one another. Everyone is so passionate about this cause and we have many local companies kindly supporting the event and raffle. We will keep this page updated frequently as their support continues and is confirmed.
We would like to make extra special mention to Steve and Maggie Lansdown (of Hargreaves Lansdown and a Bristol Sport founder) – true Bristol Champions! Their generosity and kindness mean that any funds we raise, will be matched! We’d love to raise £7,500, so the overall goal will now stand at £15,000!
We are hoping that this generosity and willingness will continue! If you aren't able to attend, we’d love for you to still purchase a raffle ticket, as we have many amazing prices! (Tickets coming soon!). We appreciate times are tough for everyone, so any small donations will still be gratefully received by the British Red Cross. Or you can support us by telling your friends and family and spreading the word and sharing on social media (Instagram or Facebook).
You do not need to attend the event, in order to purchase a raffle ticket. Winners will be chosen on the evening of Monday 6th March. All winners will be notified by email, no later than 12pm on Tuesday 7th March.
