5 Quirky Wedding Place Card Ideas

We asked Becca, stationery designer from Ochre Weddings, to give us some quirky ideas for wedding place cards. We love them! Take inspiration from the suggestions below..

“Wedding place cards are the final flourish for any wedding table decoration. So, impress your guests and bring together your wedding theme with original wedding place cards. To really make your wedding place cards stand out, incorporate one of my 5 favourite ideas for a quirky touch.” says Becca

Origami

For whimsical woodland weddings, I love origami place card holders. For the eco-conscious bride, use recycled kraft paper swans and attach guest names with handmade luggage tags. These pretty paper decorations are a delicate addition to any table decor and have a fairytale feel.

Alternatively, for destination weddings or travel-themed celebrations, use origami boats as wedding place names. I’ve previously crafted these out of old maps to add a rustic touch for my couples. Guest names can easily be attached to a cocktail stick, fashioned as the boat sail. These boats also compliment nautical themes and look really cute against sea blue napkins.

Vintage

Vintage wedding provide the ultimate backdrop for unusual place cards. If you’ve opted for a vintage theme, try using an array of old fashioned skeleton keys as place card holders. These add a timeless touch and match any wedding colours.

To really accentuate the vintage theme, you could use newspaper cuttings to spell guest names. This works particularly well with the shabby-chic frames and adds a personal touch to your wedding place cards.

Baroque

Another quirky wedding place card idea for vintage styles is using ornate picture frames. These mini baroque frames from Sole Favors are really dainty and add a charming touch to vintage table decor. Couple these with antique tea sets for the perfect wedding table style.

Metallic Animals

My fourth – and most quirky – wedding place card idea is metallic animal figures! For safari weddings, animal-themed reception celebrations or for uber modern weddings, these work perfectly. If you also have gold foil wedding stationery, these wedding place card holders will be ideal. They not only add a quirky and fun feel to your table decor but these wedding place card holders definitely stand out.

One bride I recently provided on-the-day stationery for actually spray painted the animal figurines herself. They really looked dazzling and helped her to save some pennies as I sourced them wholesale.

Truffles

Finally, for the foodies, jazz up your wedding place cards with truffle place card holders. These can be hand-decorated and coloured to match any wedding theme. Plus, these will certainly delight your guests as a pre-dinner treat!

Whatever your wedding theme, I hope my quirky wedding place card ideas have provided you with creative inspiration. Inject personality into your wedding table decorations and entertain your guests with a unique place card style.
